CyberSafe Introduces Security Customization Kits.

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 20, 1999--

CyberSafe Corporation (http://www.cybersafe.com), a leading provider of network security products and services, today released TrustBroker(TM) Developer Pack, a collection of three software development kits (SDK's) on a single CD-ROM CD-ROM: see compact disc.
CD-ROM
in full compact disc read-only memory

Type of computer storage medium that is read optically (e.g., by a laser).
.

These SDK's enable developers to incorporate robust security and security administration functions into their network applications.

Enterprise security development has traditionally been difficult and complex. The emergence of the Generic Security Service-Application Programming Interface (GSS-API GSS-API - Generic Security Service Application Programming Interface ) provides a consistent, industry standard for the development of secure applications. The developer community, while recognizing the power and practicality of developing to the GSS-API, has had limited commercial support. CyberSafe, with the TrustBroker Developer Pack, can now deliver simple and comprehensive enterprise security tools to the developer community.

TrustBroker Developer Pack includes three CyberSafe(R) Software Developer Kits and runtime components, each having a specific benefit to the software developer community: -0-

-- Application Security SDK 2.0 accelerates the deployment of
applications which require authentication, data privacy and data
integrity utilizing the robust and industry standard features of
GSS-API v2 in conjunction with the TrustBroker Security Server.

-- Administration SDK 2.0 supports remote administration of
TrustBroker Security Server data. It allows the developer to
     create customized administration applications.

-- Web SDK 1.0 enables the programmatic utilization of TrustBroker
Security Server technology for authentication to web server
     applications and related enterprise applications.

-- The runtime components of the Application Security SDK and
Administration SDK can be licensed for deploying secure
applications to the user community. The runtime components of the
Application Security SDK enable the security functionality
resident in GSS-API aware applications such as Oracle.
Additionally, a specialized runtime library is provided for the
     SAP for R/3 application suite.

The release of all three CyberSafe SDK's and associated run-time libraries (operating system, programming, library) run-time library - A file containing routines which are linked with a program at run time rather than at compile-time. The advantage of such dynamic linking is that only one copy of the library needs to be stored, rather than a copy being  provide the tools necessary to secure web, legacy, and GSS-API-enabled third party applications throughout the enterprise. Furthermore, these applications leverage a one-time investment in a TrustBroker Security Server and can be administered from any point on the network.

The Developer Pack enables programmers to apply CyberSafe security technology to their existing network applications, using industry standard protocols, mechanisms and algorithms. Applications can be secured over a variety of widely installed platforms, including Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking. (R), Windows(TM) 95/98, HP(TM)-10.20/11, AIX (Advanced Interactive eXecutive) IBM's Unix-based operating system which runs on its Intellistation workstations and pSeries, p5, iSeries and i5 server families. (R) 4.2/4.3, and Sun Solaris(R) 2.5/2.6.

Major features include support for GSS-API V2, Data Encryption Standard See DES.

Data Encryption Standard - (DES) The NBS's popular, standard encryption algorithm. It is a product cipher that operates on 64-bit blocks of data, using a 56-bit key. It is defined in FIPS 46-1 (1988) (which supersedes FIPS 46 (1977)).
 (DES), Triple DES See DES.

(cryptography) triple DES - A product cipher which, like DES, operates on 64-bit data blocks. There are several forms, each of which uses the DES cipher 3 times. Some forms use two 56-bit keys, some use three. The DES "modes of operation" may also be used with triple-DES.
, Public Key and secondary authentication (1) Verifying the integrity of a transmitted message. See message integrity, e-mail authentication and MAC.

(2) Verifying the identity of a user logging into a network.
devices, such as token and smart cards Example of widely used contactless smart cards are Hong Kong's Octopus card, Paris' Calypso/Navigo card and Lisbon' LisboaViva card, which predate the ISO/IEC 14443 standard. The following tables list smart cards used for public transportation and other electronic purse applications. .
