Both ActiveTRUST and Windows 2000 security use Kerberos v5 as their authentication protocol, allowing trust relationships and cross-realm authentication to be established between the two. Single sign-on systems are also used within an enterprise, enabling users to access all authorized resources in the local network using the same username and password.  access to enterprise UNIX and non-Microsoft Windows applications supported by ActiveTRUST.

Active Synchronization makes deployment and use of ActiveTRUST Security Center and Windows 2000 software together extremely simple and seamless to administer. Simply run an active synchronization utility to set-up an ActiveTRUST realm of accounts based on established Windows 2000 users. It's that simple. Trust relationships between Windows and Unix systems are established allowing users to move between various operating environments with the same I.D. and password.
