ISSAQUAH, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 19, 2000

CyberSafe Corporation, a leading provider of enterprise network security solutions, today announced an agreement to enhance the security authentication features of Compaq Computer Corporation's Tru64 UNIX The 64-bit Unix operating system for HP's AlphaServers. Formerly Digital Unix when Alpha was a product family from Digital Equipment Corporation, it was renamed Tru64 Unix in 1999 by Compaq (HP acquired Compaq in 2002).  operating system operating system (OS)

.

CyberSafe will work with Compaq, to extend Tru64 UNIX interoperability to Windows 2000 and ultimately to enterprise customers operating mixed system environments. The agreement will give Compaq access to CyberSafe experience and grant the company a license to embed CyberSafe(R) technology into Tru64 UNIX. As a result, Compaq will be able to deliver even more seamless interoperability between Tru64 UNIX and other operating systems Operating systems can be categorized by technology, ownership, licensing, working state, usage, and by many other characteristics. In practice, many of these groupings may overlap. , particularly Windows 2000.

"Compaq is committed to creating enterprise-class interoperability between Compaq's Tru64 UNIX and Windows 2000," said Tim Yeaton, Vice President of Compaq's UNIX Systems Business Unit. "With Tru64 UNIX, Compaq currently has the most Windows-friendly UNIX UNIX

Compaq will use Kerberos technology from CyberSafe to provide users with a single sign-on An identification system that lets users log into multiple Web sites on the Internet with one username and password. Compaq's agreement to use ActiveTRUST(TM) security solutions from CyberSafe will enable customers to authenticate users and applications only once, whether they access Tru64 UNIX or Windows 2000. CyberSafe, together with Microsoft, recently announced their cooperative work leading to a successful validation of Kerberos v5 interoperability in Windows 2000.

"CyberSafe was the first company to offer a commercial Kerberos-based security solution and the first to provide critical security and single sign-on interoperability between diverse `proof of identity' systems," said Jim Cannavino, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at CyberSafe. "Because of this background as the leading supplier of standards-based security solutions, companies such as Compaq look to us as a benchmark. The experience we have in developing and deploying identity management systems worldwide is one reason more enterprise customers are standardizing on our products."

ActiveTRUST security solutions from CyberSafe will interoperate with Tru64 UNIX to provide enterprise customers with other key benefits as well, including:

-- Secured communications and data transfers across a mixed

environment of clients and servers, accessible only by Kerberos

validation.

-- Seamless interoperation with all CyberSafe supported platforms,

"We are pleased that Compaq chose CyberSafe to provide interoperability between Tru64 UNIX and Windows 2000," said Katherine Hutchison, Vice President of Marketing for CyberSafe. "As the leading supplier of standards-based security solutions, our customers look to us to protect mission-critical data, communication and applications across mixed network system environments. Our involvement with Compaq is further validation of both CyberSafe's expertise and commitment to the seamless interoperability of security solutions across all platforms using virtually any technology."

Compaq's Tru64 UNIX operating system is uniquely positioned to enhance and simplify any business environment that needs to have maximum performance and scalability for transaction processing Updating the appropriate database records as soon as a transaction (order, payment, etc.) is entered into the computer. , Internet/intranet, and high performance technical applications. Tru64 UNIX is designed to provide users with the power of UNIX without the complexity, delivering mainframe capability with high-end performance at an affordable cost. The scalable system can grow to multi-terabyte configurations and makes integration with Windows 2000 simpler; reducing customer cost in operating mixed system environments.
