CyberMedia opens Oil Change software "Medallion" program to sign up vendors to standards that help automate software, driver updates.

Tourism and retailing are important, and the city has motion-picture, biotechnology, and software industries. , Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 14, 1996--CyberMedia Inc. announced a Medallion Partner program for computer industry companies that want to assure their users can automatically find and install updates using Oil Change software.

The first companies to commit to the program are Software Publishing Corp., Cardinal Technologies Inc., PureData Ltd. and Quarterdeck (Quarterdeck Corporation, Marina del Rey, CA) A pioneering software company, founded in 1983, that offered a variety of utilities, diagnostics, connectivity and Internet products for the PC and Macintosh.  Corp.

It notifies users when updates are available, and after asking permission, automatically fetches and installs them.

Oil Change Medallion program information is freely available to software and driver developers at the company's Web site (http://www.cybermedia.com) or by contacting the company.

Oil Change will be available in September for less than $70 (suggested U.S. resale at participating resellers).
