Company Introduces Enhanced Firewall/VPN Appliance for Small

Offices and Firewall PCI Cards for Critical Servers to Coincide with

New Branding of Linux-based Security Offerings

CyberGuard Corporation (Nasdaq:CGFW), the technology leader in network security, today announced that its SnapGear by CyberGuard products have been re-branded as the "SG series." The company also announced the general availability of three new SG solutions, the SG300, SG630 and SG635. Together with its FS, KS and SL series appliances, CyberGuard now offers 13 different firewall/VPN solutions that address security requirements from the core to the edge of the enterprise.

"CyberGuard has a reputation for delivering world-class information security solutions," said Pat Clawson, chairman and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "Large enterprises and governments worldwide depend on our line of SL, KS and FS premium firewall/VPN appliances. As we bring our combined core-to-edge solution to customers around the world, it makes sense to identify our products consistently across the entire product range."

One of the new products announced today - the SG300 - is a firewall/VPN appliance for small offices and teleworkers that offers business-class security, including a powerful stateful-inspection firewall, service-based intrusion detection See IDS and IPS. , and advanced Internet connection sharing Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) is the name given by Microsoft to a feature in recent versions of its Windows operating system (as of Windows 98 Second Edition) for sharing a single Internet connection on one computer between other computers on the same local area network.  features. The firewall is 2X faster and the encryption up to 3X faster than an earlier version of the product. Another feature of the firewall lets users dial in remotely via analog or ISDN modem An alternative name for ISDN terminal adapter. The term is widely used, because the unit looks like a modem, connects to the same serial port as a modem and may support analog phones. "Small and mid-sized businesses face many of the same pressures as larger enterprises," stated Mike Wittig, president and chief technology officer for CyberGuard. "The SG300 security appliance brings business-class security to those environments and allows customers to get the most out of their Internet-connected networks so they can stay competitive. This is a clear price to performance winner for small businesses and replicated sites."

Additional features of the SG300 include:

-- A 4-port 10/100 Ethernet switch so a small business can set up

a local area network quickly and easily;

The company has also begun shipping new versions of its embedded firewall network cards - the SG630 and SG635 - for security across distributed networks. The plug-in cards fit into standard PCI (1) (Payment Card Industry) See PCI DSS.

"Up to 90 percent of network attacks originate internally," stated Wittig. "Perimeter firewalls are effective in blocking external attacks, but they cannot prevent attacks that are made by disgruntled dis·grun·tle

The SG630 and SG635 make this possible because they complement perimeter defenses with 'embedded' firewalls that provide individual protection for every corporate desktop and every Web application server in a data center."

The SG-series is a set of consolidated, feature-rich firewall/VPN appliances that offer flexible network installations targeted to the edge of enterprises, small business offices and replicated sites. The company's Global Command Center product, its next generation central management solution, will include support for the SG-series of security devices soon.
