CyberGuard Corporation receives Network Computing's Editor's Choice Award.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 12, 1997-- CyberGuard Corporation (NASDAQ:CYBG), a leading provider of certified network security solutions, Wednesday announced it has been awarded Network Computing Magazine's Editor's Choice Award.

The CyberGuard Firewall 3.0 product tied for first place in a comparative review of six leading Unix and Windows NT firewalls including Checkpoint, Secure Computing and Technologic.

When measuring throughput, or the speed of the firewalls tested, Peter Morrissey, network systems programmer at Network Computing's Real-World Lab at Syracuse University, stated, "The results show CyberGuard Corp.'s CyberGuard Firewall as the clear winner."

The review noted that the CyberGuard Firewall is meticulously designed to prevent security breaches through the operating system. "CyberGuard is based on the multilevel secure operating system certified by the NCSC (National Computer Security Center), a U.S. government agency that evaluates computer systems and applies ratings based on strict criteria," Morrissey added.

CyberGuard's Graphical User Interface was also cited to be one of the best designed in the industry. In addition, CyberGuard's proxies were found to be "among the most full featured." Morrissey also commented that "CyberGuard has the most alerting options of all the products we tested."

Network Computing stated that CyberGuard's partnership with Information Resource Engineering makes the CyberGuard Firewall "the only firewall that could provide hardware encryption via a card installed on the firewall."
