CyberGuard Announces CyberGuard Firewall Release 4 and a New Suite of Security Products Targeted to Enterprise Customers.

SANTA CRUZ, CALIF.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 20, 1997--CyberGuard Corporation (NASDAQ:CYBG), a leading provider of network security and eCommerce solutions, Wednesday announced at the Santa Cruz Operations (SCO) Forum, a new version of its award-winning secure UnixWare firewall, CyberGuard Firewall Release 4.

CyberGuard also announced a new suite of network security products targeted to enterprise customers worldwide.

The rock-solid secure CyberGuard Firewall is now joined by a suite of security products that deliver even greater security, flexibility and ease of use for large enterprises. CyberGuard's new products include central management, secure remote management, Passport One(tm) User Authentication, ViruSafe anti-virus products, and additional firewall features including SmartProxies and an enhanced award-winning Graphical User Interface (GUI). These new products are currently available for CyberGuard's Release 4 Firewall and will soon be available for CyberGuard's NT family of firewall products.

CyberGuard Firewall Release 4 Secure Multi-level Operating System 

The CyberGuard secure UnixWare Multi-level Operating System provides an 'out of the box safe and secure' platform that enhances the CyberGuard Firewall's ability to deflect attacks. Hackers can't tamper with files they cannot see.

Central Management

Passport One User Authentication

CyberGuard's new Passport One product delivers one-time user authentication, giving access to authorized services inside the firewall but restricting access to anything else. Even if a user's authentication data is captured by an attacker, one-time user authentication ensures the information will not be usable.

ViruSafe Anti-virus Products

CyberGuard's new ViruSafe product offers advanced anti-virus scanning that centrally identifies and isolates files containing malicious applications. The ViruSafe content scanner from eSafe Technologies, a division of EliaShim, is fully integrated with CyberGuard's Release 4 firewall product. Certified by The National Computer Security Association, ViruSafe contains an additional feature from CyberSoft that can identify 500 different file types, making virus disguising nearly impossible. Inbound and outbound files and e-mail attachments can be scanned. Virus-infected files are identified and isolated for disposal or quarantine.

Additionally, CyberGuard's Auditing Tools create log and alert reports when viruses are encountered, allowing administrators to target the source of the threat. The scanner's critical language-blocking feature can prohibit transmissions from dangerous sites and reject web applications that contain ActiveX, Java, JavaScript or VBScript, the sources of most types of dangerous programs.
