 Al Cooper, who classifies compulsives as those who use their computers more than 11 hours a week for sex, conducted his research by posting a survey on MSNBC.com for two months. Of the more than 9,000 people who completed his survey--all of whom have visited sex Web sites--70% said they keep their online sexual escapades secret.

Cooper's research, which is the most comprehensive study on online sex to date, also suggests that these sexual pursuits might be going on in a cubicle near you: 20% of the men and 12% of the women who answered the survey said they use their work computer to access sexual material.
