Prior to Comverse, Gregory was vice president of worldwide sales and support for Voice Control Systems, a speech recognition company now owned by Philips. He came to Voice Control Systems from Shiva Corporation, where he served as vice president of global business development and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  sales. At Shiva, Gregory led the company's merger and acquisition initiatives and led the successful development of the company's strategic alliance with Nortel.
