-- Cyber security executive Robert Sill, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  and president of Aegis Technologies Inc., will discuss issues and technologies involved in securing the nation's electric power, defense and industrial infrastructure at tomorrow's New York Society of Security Analysts Fifth Annual Security and Defense Conference. His presentation will be on Thursday, March 13, at 2:10 p.m., at NYSSA Nyssa (nĭs`ə), name of several ancient cities devoted to the worship of Dionysus. The best known of them is a town of Cappadocia, Asia Minor, near the Halys (now the Kizil Irmak) River. It was the residence of St. Gregory of Nyssa.  headquarters, 1177 Avenue of the Americas, in mid-town Manhattan.

Mr. Sill will address security analysts, portfolio managers and other senior corporate executives about incidents and widespread vulnerabilities that have recently caused public concern about cyber hackers and potential cyber terrorists, pointing to the need to upgrade and secure electronic control systems and protect infrastructure industries.

Noting that demand for cyber-security is inexorably linked to global cyber-terrorism, Mr. Sill will state: "A few simple electronic instructions sent via the Internet to unprotected utility, defense or other industrial control assets have been shown to easily permit hackers from virtually anywhere in the world to disrupt or power-down critical systems with relatively few key strokes."

"For example," he points out, "an average-sized utility typically experiences thousands of attempted hacks per year. Such malevolent probings are particularly worrisome since virtually all of them use much of the same 40- to 50-year-old electronic technology, designed for simpler times. Now, however, they are connected to the Internet, an open environment that invites penetration for any number of ill-intended purposes."
