Cy-Fair Sports Association Players Will Hit a Grand Slam for Katrina Victims.

HOUSTON -- Beginning on September 23 through the 25th, Cy-Fair Sports Association will be hosting the Neighbors In Need Baseball Tournament for ages 5 to 14 to raise money for the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund.

Besides raising money for the relief fund, the unique part of this tournament is that it is being hosted citywide, utilizing facilities in the areas of Cy-Fair, League City, Humble and Spring.

"We wanted to create an opportunity for our kids to do something for the victims as well as the parents and coaches," said Kelly Toney, Assistant baseball commissioner for Cy-Fair Sports Association. "We have gained assistance in this fundraiser from USSSA, Texas USSSA, Big League Dreams, Spring Klein Sports Association and Humble Baseball Association in hopes of raisings over $50,000 dollars for the American Red Cross," adds Robert Bradley, baseball commissioner for Cy-Fair Sports Association.

This tournament has been building support from all of the area youth organizations to spread the word, posted on all of the participating organizations websites and emailed to over 4000 South Texas baseball coaches along with nearly 10,000 USSSA coaches in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Admission is open to the public and is free; however, it is encouraged that people bring a donated item to give to the Salvation Army or the American Red Cross. Admission for teams to play is a minimum of $500.00 of which 100% will go to the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund. The tournament schedule is as follows:

September 23rd: 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.

September 24th: 8:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.

September 25th: 8:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.
