HUNDREDS of thousands of motorists could escape prosecution for speeding and other offences after the budget of one of Britain's largest road safety units was slashed.

Safety Camera Partnerships (SCP) were Local Government-based organisations, set up in the United Kingdom as part of The National Safety Camera Scheme.

Staff handed out 304,324 notices of intent to prosecute in the year 2008/09 and slightly more in each of the three previous years.

But this may fall to around 80,000 notices after Transport for London
Not to be confused with Transport in London.
Transport For London (TfL) is a local government body responsible for most aspects of the transport system throughout Greater London in England.
