careless careless adj., adv. 1) negligent. 2) the opposite of careful. A careless act can result in liability for damages to others. (See: negligent, negligence, care)  and unpleasant. That's one of the findings of a new Yale University Yale University, at New Haven, Conn.; coeducational. Chartered as a collegiate school for men in 1701 largely as a result of the efforts of James Pierpont, it opened at Killingworth (now Clinton) in 1702, moved (1707) to Saybrook (now Old Saybrook), and in 1716 was  study that confirms what you've always feared: People do judge you by your hair.

In the study, 183 men and women viewed faces with different hairstyles for four seconds at a time, then rated that person in 10 categories. Guys with short, highlighted hair were seen as confident and sexy, but self-centered. On girls, the equivalent style was perceived as the most confident, but the least sexy. A smart cut for guys was a medium-length side part to signal intelligence. A medium-length, dark-colored, casual cut beamed goodnaturedness for girls. So should you worry about a bad hair day? Apparently, yes.
