John Cushman is frequently recognized as the top leasing office broker in the nation, and he's widely known for his close personal relationships with key executives of major corporations - of which there are far too many to name here. In addition to all his high-profile "tenant rep" assignments, Cushman, 54, has also helped close several landmark office property sales in the L.A. area and elsewhere. Landmark year Many observers have likewise characterized Cushman Realty's 1995 as a landmark year for the brokerage John and twin brother Lou founded in 1978. While the privately held firm doesn't release its financials, insiders say Cushman Realty returned to profitability in 1995 after a couple tough years. That's not a major surprise, considering the awards a trio of its top-performing tenant rep specialists took in the Business Journal's second annual commercial broker recognition program. The firm's president and CEO also resolved a significant personal financial challenge a few months ago when his development team refinanced $80 million in mortgage debt on the Landmark Square office property in downtown Long Beach. But more importantly, the Bradley award recognizes Cushman's exhaustive commitments to a long roster of charitable and civic endeavors. His contributions to Boy Scouts of America Noun 1. The fund-raiser golf tournament Cushman sponsors each year at Spanish Hills Golf & Country Club is said to have raised well in excess of $1 million for the Boy Scouts organization over the years. While traveling extensively around the globe to serve his clients, Cushman continues to find time to serve many other important organizations. To mention just a few, Cushman is: * a member of Junior Achievement Inc.'s national board of directors; * a director of the L.A. World Affairs Council World Affairs Council may refer to:
