Cushman & Wakefield takes 140,000 sf in CBS Building.

Cushman & Wakefield has signed 140,000-square-foot lease for its international headquarters at the CBS Headquarters Building (52nd Street and Sixth Avenue) in midtown Manhattan.

The building, which is steeped in New York architectural history, was designed by Eero Saarinen, who also designed the Vivian Beaumont theatre at Lincoln Center and the TWA terminal at Kennedy Airport. Cushman & Wakefield is the agent for CBS Building.

The building is a rectilinear center core facility featuring a five foot window module. It is also located along the 52nd Street corridor, which includes such prestigious building, 1301 Avenue of the Americas, 599 Lexington Avenue, and Park Avenue Plaza.

A $20 million capital improvement campaign in, the building, including replacement of the elevator control systems to the state of the art Armor 900 TMS system, increased electrical capacity to each floor, new interior HVAC system adaptable to V.A.V., and a new fire sprinkler system, has been completed. Upgrades to the lobby area will be completed by the end of the year.

Cushman & Wakefield will be able to take advantage of such other amenities as the full service CBS cafeteria; conference and meeting rooms; and an independent messenger center and loading dock.

The law firm Wachtel Lipton Rosen am Katz will also be a tenant in the building, which serves as CBS Inc.'s world headquarters.
