Curved air knife cools and dries. (Extrusion).

A new circular air wipe blows water off tubing or profiles after they leave the water bath. Exair Corp. in Cincinnati says its Super Air Wipe delivers a continuous 3600 curtain of air over the extrudate. Previous circular air knives channeled compressed air through a ring of nozzles. Standard models range from 2-in. diam., delivering up to 22,000 cfm of air ($295), to a 4-in. size that supplies 24,000 cfm ($665). Exair has shipped custom sizes up to 11-in. diam.
