Curtiss-Wright Streamlines Application Change Management Processes with Quest Software; Quest Announces New Release of Stat ACM - Provides Greater Scalability and Usability to Administrators Managing Application Changes and Applying Patches.

IRVINE, Calif. -- Quest Software The computer-software manufacturer Quest Software (Quest Software, Inc.) (NASDAQ: QSFT), headquartered in Aliso Viejo, California, dates from 1987. Quest develops, sells, and supports database management, Windows management, and application management software products  Inc. (Nasdaq:QSFT), a leading provider of application, database and infrastructure management solutions, today announced that Curtiss-Wright Electro-Mechanical Corp. (EMD EMD Electromechanical dissociation, see there ) has enhanced its application change and patch management The installation of patches from a software vendor onto an organization's computers. Patching thousands of PCs and servers is a major issue. A patch should be applied to test machines first before deployment, and the testing environments must represent all the users' PCs with their unique  process with the assistance of Quest Stat(R) Application Change Management (ACM (Association for Computing Machinery, New York, www.acm.org) A membership organization founded in 1947 dedicated to advancing the arts and sciences of information processing. In addition to awards and publications, ACM also maintains special interest groups (SIGs) in the computer field. ) solution. As a diversified diversified (di·verˑ·s  global provider of highly engineered products and services to the motion control, flow control and metal treatment industries, Curtiss-Wright selected Stat ACM to gain better control over its process for making changes and applying patches to critical Oracle E-Business Suite A group of integrated Internet-based applications from Oracle. Introduced in 2001 as Version 11i, it includes modules for CRM, finance, human resources, supply chain management as well as applications for business intelligence.  applications. The company also chose Stat ACM for its ability to report on those changes for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirements Compliance requirements are a series of directives established by United States Federal government agencies that summarize hundreds of Federal laws and regulations applicable to Federal assistance (also known as Federal aid or Federal funds). .

"Before Stat ACM, we had a variety of change management systems, including an Access database to log change requests, a third-party patching tool and a manual process that we used to move application customizations into production," said Cary Pochek, Oracle E-Business Suite applications project lead, Curtiss-Wright EMD. "We were invited to a Stat ACM webcast and were drawn to the product because it combined all of the change management capabilities we required into a single tool."

As a Quest Toad(R) for Oracle user for several years, Curtiss-Wright EMD knew Quest Software as a provider of high-quality software solutions with a reliable support staff. As it evaluated Stat ACM for Oracle E-Business Suite applications, Curtiss-Wright EMD found that, unlike other products on the market, it integrated with their current system and provided advanced reporting capabilities. This resulted in significant time savings, both during the implementation as well as the ongoing management of the system.

"When implementing a new solution, you don't want to change the process to match your software or your software to match the process. We discovered that the two systems worked well together and were impressed with Stat ACM's tight integration capabilities," said Tim Guido, database administrator, Curtiss-Wright EMD. "Additionally, Stat ACM's version control capabilities help us reduce the risk of human error related to moving code into production. We now know with certainty what was tested is what's going into production."

Additionally, available today, the latest release of Stat ACM features greater scalability and versatility including the ability to upload and view attachments via both Web and Windows client, and multiple distributed environments on migration paths. Other key new features include:

--Single-Click Project Synchronization (1) See synchronous and synchronous transmission.

(2) Ensuring that two sets of data are always the same. See data synchronization.

(3) Keeping time-of-day clocks in two devices set to the same time. See NTP.

--Developer Object Comparison - Available in Stat ACM for Oracle E-Business Suite applications, this feature displays the differences between two versions of various forms, resulting in better visibility into code changes and their impact, which improves code reviews and auditing.

"We are excited to extend the depth of our change management offering with the new release of Stat ACM," said Larry Humphries, vice president, application management solutions, Quest Software. "By providing application support personnel with the necessary tools to visualize the change in their environments, Stat ACM delivers unprecedented visibility into the impact of that change to existing implementations - increasing application stability and reducing manual errors."
