-- CurtCo Media today confirmed that it has engaged Goldman Sachs The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc., or simply Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) is one of the world's largest global investment banks. Goldman Sachs was founded in 1869, and is headquartered in the Lower Manhattan area of New York City at 85 Broad Street.  to evaluate strategic alternatives for the Robb Report The Robb Report is a magazine about luxury life, featuring products of the lifestyle, such as cars, watches, and real estate. It was originally started by Robert White as a magazine to complement the purchase of a Rolls-Royce automobile.  family of publications, which includes 16 publications ranging from the Robb Report, Worth, ShowBoats International, Art & Antiques, a series of vertical extensions and a Regional division specializing in geographic areas of significant affluence.

An acquisition involving the group, which caters to the ultra affluent "have more" demographic, would likely be one of the most significant transactions in recent memory for the magazine industry. Together the publications provide unmatched access to the ultra-affluent demographic, both through advertising and promotional events that have proven to be highly effective for an array of top-tier luxury goods companies.

CurtCo, which has a 20-year track record of developing publishing businesses, said conditions in the M&A market, the consistent above-industry-average performance of the business and the potential for further growth of the Robb Report brand under new ownership motivated it to explore its alternatives after years of fielding inquiries from potential suitors.

A sale would be the culmination of an intense five-year development program of vertical launches and acquisitions that have created a business with significant revenues and margins that are well above industry averages in the magazine industry. CurtCo and its financial sponsors Weston Presidio and TD Capital Communications Partners would realize the considerable value that has been created. The upside Upside

for the buyer would be significant, with the wealthy demographic the group reaches growing rapidly in the U.S. and around the world. New titles, international expansion and initiatives in the Internet and broadcast spaces could drive significant further growth. As they take the company to the next level, new ownership would likely retain and build upon the talents of the staff, many of whom have been with their magazines for years.

CurtCo began acquiring and developing vertical titles within the luxury lifestyle categories with its acquisition of the Robb Report in 2001. The expansion of the Robb Report franchise included the acquisitions of Worth magazine in 2003 and ShowBoats International, Gulfshore Life and Sarasota magazines in 2004, and San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850.
