"We've found there wasn't a need for a newcomer in a region where students were already so well served," Mr. Quigley said, referring to the 13 colleges in the area that he said "offer a depth of programs."

Judith Stoessel, dean of continuing and graduate studies, said many students currently enrolled are "on track" to finish their intended program.

Ms. Stoessel said those who do not will be offered "academic advising assistance to determine the optimal route to complete their studies."

Options available to Worcester satellite students include transferring to Curry's main campus in Milton or satellite campus in Plymouth, or completing their course work through tutorials or independent studies.

Assistance will also be made available to students wishing to transfer to other colleges and universities, Ms. Stoessel said.

"The plan is going to be different for each student," she said, "but we are committed to helping our existing students achieve their educational goals."
