Current challenges, difficulties could be defeated through mutual unity: Owais.

PESHAWAR, July 09, 2009 (Balochistan Times) -- The NWFP Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani has emphasized intra and inter-tribes unity and peace in FATA, saying that the current challenges and difficulties could be defeated through mutual unity and harmony thus ensuring a safe future and developed environment for the coming generations. Addressing a 32 member representative tribal jirga of Dottani and Suleman Khel tribes of South Waziristan Agency at Governors House here on Thursday the Governor said that internal conflicts and disunity had always proved detrimental for a nation and society. Whenever peace and unity prevails in the ranks of a nation no conspirator can find the way in he added. He said that now was the time that we should foil the enemys designs against Pakistan by strengthening our ranks and file.. He said that Pakistan was passing through a critical stage of its history and we would have to take every step under a well thought-out strategy and with full caution and care. This is how we can protect our national interests and sail out confidently and successfully of the critical and difficult situation, he maintained. The Governor said that anarchists and destructionists were not only enemy of nation and the country but they were also harming Islam. These are the elements, he added who have damaged the cause of Islam and the prestige of Muslim all over the globe, he said. The Governor said that Pakistan had a distinctive and prestigious standing among the Islamic world. This is the only country based on Islamic nationalism and the one and only nuclear and military power in the Islamic world. Damaging it is in fact weakening the cause of Islam and Islamic Ummah, he remarked. Talking about the situation in FATA, the Governor said that it had improved considerably over the period of one year, adding that we were moving towards peace gradually and confidently. He said that time had proved that Pakistan has the capacity and capability to overcome any crises with its own resources and strength. The Governor said that improvement in the situation had certainly paved the way for development process in FATA and the Govt. was revisiting it development strategy for tribal areas to ensure comprehensive and accelerated development. He said that development was the equal right of every community and the govt. would never ignore any tribal area in the development process. Referring to the demands of the Jirga, the Governor said that he would soon hold a meeting with the elders of Dottani and Sulemankhel tribes for consultation on development strategy for their area. He directed the authorities to expedite implementation on the special package for Rs. 50 million announced earlier for development of the area. The Governor appreciated the loyalty shown by Dottani and Sulemankhel tribes with Pakistan and the way they had maintained peaceful and stability in the area.. Earlier tribal elders Malik Muhammad Ali, Haji Malik Musa, Subedar Muhammad Azeem, Malik Nawab Dottani and others talking on behalf of the Jirga said that Dottani and Sulemankhel had always remained loyal to the country and would remain so in the future as well. They said that Dottani and Sulemankhel tribes had maintained exemplary peace in their areas and they were proud of it, expressing the pledge to keep it up at any cost. These elders also demanded development schemes in education, health, irrigation and power sectors besides employment opportunities for educated youth. Secretary to Governor Arbab Muhammad Arif was also present on the occasion.
