The move follows a significant drop in the dollar's value compared to many major foreign currencies.

The change will be applied to races from countries carrying 'part I' status in the International Catalogue Standards book, covering periods for which comprehensive results have been recorded.

The foreign earnings will also be converted to US dollars on the catalogue page.

"Reporting earnings in native currency from these part I countries and providing total earnings in US dollars will give buyers and consignors a more detailed assessment of a thoroughbred's accomplishments, given the global appeal of the domestic auction market and the significant difference in value between the US dollar and many foreign currencies,"

said Society of International Thoroughbred Auctioneers' chairman Norman Casse.
