As the first part of its plans, Cedrec Information Systems Ltd, which specialises in environmental and health and safety publishing, is launching a product aimed at companies in Northern Ireland, covering health and safety legislation.

Founded in 1994 and managed by Steven Armstrong and Gareth Billinghurst, the firm has grown rapidly and has a prestigious client list including Coca Cola, Du Pont and Michelin.

Steven said: "Developing niche products and building long-term relationships with clients has been the key to winning new contracts with well known companies ( we set very high standards at Cedrec and place a strong emphasis on customer care.

"Health and safety legislation is continuously changing and causing headaches for many businesses, particularly those in the manufacturing and engineering sectors. Cedrec keeps pace with these changes and has developed several specialist information and update packages designed to reduce the workload of managers by summarising key legislation in plain English."

After immensely successful trading and growth, which saw turnover more than double, the company decided to develop a new health and safety update service for companies in Northern Ireland.

Steven said: "Our new product is the first of its kind in Northern Ireland and was created due to a growing demand for user-friendly health and safety information. Since its launch, the new product has been very well received and has already been snapped up by several well known organisations, including 3M and Thales Air Defence Thales Air Defence Limited, formerly Shorts Missile Systems, is a defence contractor based in Belfast, Northern Ireland producing short-range or close air defence missiles. The company has a turnover of approximately £70m and pre-tax profits of £7m. ."

The firm, at North-East Business and Innovation Centre (Bic) in Sunderland, hopes to launch several products farther afield in the next two years.
