Curative Health Services Acquires Hemophilia Access, Inc.; Expands Services for Hemophilia Community.

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 8, 2002

Curative Health Services, Inc. (Nasdaq:CURE), today announced it has acquired Hemophilia Access Inc. (HAI), a specialty pharmaceutical company based near Nashville, Tenn., for a purchase price of $2.65 million, substantially all of which is payable in Curative stock.

HAI provides pharmaceuticals, therapeutic supplies and disease management services to people with hemophilia and related bleeding disorders. HAI is expected to contribute in excess of $5 million in revenues in 2002 and will provide immediate accretion to Curative's 2002 earnings of an estimated 2 cents per share.

Curative's acquisition of HAI improves buying power for its current customers by expanding its existing care models and broadening its reach to both coasts. Existing HAI customers will benefit from Curative's enhanced access to critical clotting factors, more comprehensive support from Curative's clinical expertise and participating in Curative's programs to help patients adhere to their course of therapy.

HAI was founded by Margie Chitwood-Akers, a pioneer in providing excellence in community based patient care. Chitwood-Akers built the company to help patients find positive ways to deal with a difficult medical condition by providing the highest quality services. She will remain actively involved in the company as Director of Hemophilia. Operations will continue to be based in Tennessee. Order processing, billing and accounting will be integrated into Curative's Specialty Pharmacy operation in San Carlos, Calif.
