Skipper Olu Babalola forced the extra period in the quarter-final with a stunning three-pointer on the buzzer but the Tigers then ran out of gas.

Tony Garbelotto's side started brightly in Sheffield and led 25-19 early in the second quarter after an impressive 8-0 burst.

However, the Sharks got themselves back into contention with a 9-0 run of their own to ensure they were 40-36 up at the interval.

In the third quarter the Tigers responded and regained the lead at 58-51.

That advantage was soon cut to 64-60 to set up a thrilling finale.

With seven minutes to play the Tigers led 71-64 but some heroics from Tafari Toney helped tie the contest at 77-77.

Five back-to-back free throws from the Sharks put the home side 80-77 up with 5.1 seconds remaining.

But as time expired Babalola struck to send the game into over-time.

 top scorer Mike Cook, who helped himself to 41 points, instigated a 12-0 tear.

At 97-85 the Tigers were beaten and the Sharks wrapped up their victory from the foul-line.

Babalola led the scoring for the Tigers with 19 points.

The Sharks' reward is a semi-final tie with Leicester Riders.

Garbelotto's side return to action away to Newcastle Eagles in the league on Friday night.
