Cup of good cheer; Beaver believes win would end season in style.

He first hit the comedy scene back in 1996 with The Bobroom, a sketch comedy troupe from Toronto, that he co-founded.  will tell his Wallasey players to put behind them a month of misery in the Liverpool Competition premier division - and cement their place in history.

The Wirral side failed to win a league match in defence of their championship crown throughout August and Beaver now acknowledges the title race rests between Ormskirk and Bootle.

But Wallasey have lost none of their cup pedigree despite their league woes and tomorrow will step out against Didsbury in a record-breaking fourth consecutive appearance in the Cheshire Knockout final.

Beaver's side have not lost a cup game in the competition since 1977 - a remarkable record that seems unlikely to be surpassed.

And the skipper does not want to see it end tomorrow, although Cheshire County League The Cheshire County League was a football league founded in the north west of England in 1919, drawing its teams largely from Cheshire, surrounding English counties and North Wales.  leaders Didsbury will pose a formidable challenge.

"There is no fear factor, but we recognise the quality of the opposition we will be facing, " said Beaver. "But having played in three finals, hopefully we have learned how to handle the pressure of those kind of situations. It is a final and despite what has happened in the league recently, we will be looking to the players to respond accordingly.

"There have been times in the last few years when I thought we might have lost, but someone has always produced something to pull a win out of the bag and hopefully that will continue."

On their incredible cup adventure, Beaver added: "Whatever happens tomorrow it has been an exceptional achievement for those involved. It is a measure of our progress that even though we are third in the league, the season will not be considered a success unless we win tomorrow."

Wallasey's league form has dwindled since the loss of Australian Matthew Betsey through injury in July.

"We do not want this disagreement to take anything away from Ormskirk and Bootle, who have played good cricket and deserve to be where they are in the league, " said Beaver. "But we are unhappy with the way we have been treated by the league and over what criteria have been applied to decide Williams is a better player than Betsey, who had already taken 25 wickets and scored over 350 runs in half a season."

Despite being out of the title frame themselves, Wallasey could still have a major say in the final shake-up as they face Ormskirk in the league today.
