"We are going away for a few days," said O'Neill. "The players have been on the go now competitively since July July: see month.  19 with no break.

"The international players have had no break and I'm hoping that just two or three days away altogether with give them a chance to get a bit more energy into their game."

O'Neill discounts team bonding as a reason for the trip.

"I'm not so sure about that aspect of it. I think the players will enjoy the break, it is really to give them a couple of days away in a bit of sun.

"I think every side but ourselves will have been away this season.

"It's a few days, that's all.

We would much rather still be involved in the competitions but it wasn't to be."
