Mary and her 28-year-old business partner Dalvinder Cheema, launched Kiss Me Cupcakes in September 2008, and they feel the show will target some of their key markets.

Mary says: "We are really excited about this and I really think it will be brilliant to take part.

"We have been to other wedding shows but this will be very different in comparison to anything else we've done.

"Although we are a small business we try to make sure we are ethical in what we do and make sure that we recycle re·cy·cle

"We use recycled packaging, bake with free-range eggs and we also have Fair Trade coffee.

"This show is aimed at our target market and we love the message it is sending out as we aim to be ethical."

Mary says the business has been doing well and they've already supplied cakes to the NHS and The Hippodrome.

They make a variety of flavours and designs of cup cakes but Mary says she stumbled across the idea of the business while travelling for 18 months.

She and Dalvinder ate at a cup cake cafe in Sydney and thought it would be a good idea for the UK.

"We had just come back from travelling," she says. "But while we were abroad we were thinking about what we wanted to do with our lives once we came back.

"Travelling made us feel very creative and I didn't want to go back to the same job.

"I remembered a cup cake place I'd eaten at in Sydney and I wanted to do the same thing here and so we decided to launch it.

"It took a lot of planning but when we looked into it there was no one else doing the same kind of thing in our area. We found only one place in London that was doing the same thing and so we contacted a local organisation that supported women in business.

"We set up a meeting with them, told them what we wanted to do, and they helped us form a business plan and gave us a bit of direction.

"We managed to secure a grant which we used to buy the equipment we needed and then the business was launched. We did a lot of research but when we started out I'd never baked a thing before! The first cup cake came out like a lead weight but eventually we got it sorted out and it just went from there.

"We came back from travelling with a positive attitude and that has really helped."
