Cummins Westport Receives Order for up to 750 Engines from Washington Metro Transit.

Cummins Westport Inc. (TSX:CWI) today announced it has received an engine order for 150 C Gas Plus engines for buses for Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro). The order also includes an option for an additional 600 units. The CWI natural gas engines will be installed in 40-foot, low-floor buses manufactured by Orion Bus for delivery mid next year. This order brings to a total of 309 CWI C Gas Plus engines in use by Metro, and makes up 99% of their existing natural gas bus fleet.

Washington Metro Area Transit Authority operates the fifth largest bus network in the United States. The system transports more than one third of all Federal Capital employees to work and moves millions of tourists to landmarks in the nation's capital. With an approximate fleet size of more than 1,400 buses, CWI natural gas engines will now comprise more than 22% of Metro's transit vehicles.
