Cummins Westport Receives Major Engine Order from Beijing.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Cummins Westport Inc. and Westport Innovations Inc. (TSX:WPT):

Cummins Westport Inc. (CWI) today announced that it has received an order for 450 B-series natural gas engines for transit service in Beijing Public Transport Holdings Ltd. (BPT) Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin took part in the announcement during a ceremony at BPT's headquarters.

BPT currently operates more than 2,200 CWI engines in its transit fleet, making it one of the cleanest bus fleets in the world. The announced engine order will be delivered in 2005.

Ching Gettman, CWI's General Manager, Asia said the latest bus order is a significant addition to Beijing's transit fleet. "This commitment represents the single largest order since CWI established a presence in China and is the first major sale of our high performance, low emissions B series engine product in China," said Gettman." As China moves to the lower Euro III environmental standards, we are ready with products that will meet their performance and cost expectations. This order is further evidence of the growth opportunity for natural gas engines in China."

International Trade Minister James Peterson, who is leading Canada's trade mission to China with the Prime Minister, was also on hand for the announcement. The trade mission is an opportunity for companies like Vancouver-based Cummins Westport to further explore commercial opportunities in Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong.
