Cummins Named to Dow Jones Sustainability World Index For Second Year.

 Sustainability World Index in 2006 for the second year in row, being recognized again for its economic, environmental and social leadership. This index represents the top 10 percent of the world's largest 2,500 companies in these corporate sustainability metrics.

The updated index based on Dow Jones' annual review becomes effective with the opening of the equity markets on Sept. 18.

Cummins is one of 42 global companies included in the World Index's industrial goods industrial goods nplbienes mpl de producción  and services sector and one of 11 U.S. companies to make the list in that sector. In its annual review, the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI DJSI Dow Jones Sustainability Index ) analyzes companies in three broad categories - economic, social, and environment, counting for 22, 36 and 42 percent, respectively, of the total score in the industrial sector.

Cummins has made improvements in a number of key sustainability-related areas in the past year. Among them:

--commitment to develop a company-wide global climate change policy,

--certifying two more plants to the ISO (1) See ISO speed.

Invitations to participate in the Index are sent to 2,500 companies worldwide; SAM Research analyzed approximately 1,200 companies through a combination of company-supplied and public information.
