Cummins Named to CRO magazine's 'Best Corporate Citizens' List for Eighth Straight Year.

Company is One of Only 11 to Be Recognized Each Year the List Has Been in Existence

COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Cummins Inc. (NYSE:CMI) today was named as one of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens in the United States by CRO magazine, the eighth straight year the Company has received this recognition.

Cummins is one of only 11 companies to have made the list every year since its inception. The "100 Best Corporate Citizens" list identifies companies that excel at serving a variety of stakeholders well. The list is drawn from more than 1,100 of the largest U.S. publicly traded companies.

"We are honored to receive this recognition and to be mentioned alongside some of the premiere names in Corporate America," said Cummins Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Tim Solso. Cummins was No. 35 on the 2007 list, up from No. 61 in 2006. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters was No. 1 on the list for the second straight year.

Cummins, which also has been named to the Dow Jones World Sustainability Index each of the last two years, recorded a number of notable social and environmental achievements in 2006, including:

* Development of a greenhouse gas emissions reduction target

* Inclusion in the U.S. EPA's "Climate Leaders" program

* Development and global implementation of a Supplier Code of Conduct

* Participation in the Carbon Disclosure Project, an institutional investor consortium that seeks to encourage greater environmental reporting among companies

* Helping to strengthen the educational and employment foundation in central and southern Indiana by linking the site selection for a new plant to a public-private agreement that will provide enhanced educational opportunities for an underserved community

* Continuation of its "Every Employee, Every Community" public service initiative, which provides Cummins employees worldwide the opportunity to assist their local communities on Company time.

* Record-setting United Way campaigns in many regions in which Cummins has operations.

Also, in January 2007 Cummins announced that its new 6.7-liter turbo diesel engine for the heavy-duty Dodge Ram pickup truck will meet 2010 EPA emissions standards a full three years early. The engine, the first to meet the 2010 EPA standards for nitrogen oxides emissions, is in production at the Company's manufacturing facility near Columbus, Indiana.

The 100 Best Corporate Citizens list was developed by Business Ethics magazine, which was incorporated last year into The CRO, a premier membership organization for Corporate Responsibility Officers. In addition to Cummins, the following companies have made the list all eight years: Intel, Timberland, Starbucks, Herman Miller, Cisco, Pitney Bowes, Southwest Airlines, Ecolab, Brady Corp. and St. Paul Travelers.

The 100 Best Corporate Citizens list uses data from Socrates, the online social research database created by KLD Research & Analytics in Boston, an independent research firm serving investment management professionals, to put a numerical rating on companies' service to various stakeholders.

The companies considered for the list include U.S. firms in the Russell 1000, the S&P 500, and the Domini 400 Social Index. These firms are ranked on service in eight stakeholder categories: shareholders, community, governance, diversity, employees, environment, human rights, and product.

Social scores use KLD's assessment of "strengths" and "concerns" demonstrated in each category. The shareholder score is based on three-year average total return (stock appreciation plus dividends) through year-end 2006.
