It was established in 1970 to reduce and control air and water pollution, noise pollution, and radiation and to ensure the safe handling and  (EPA EPA eicosapentaenoic acid.

The EPA certification further demonstrates Cummins commitment to provide our customers with the best performing products while still meeting the tough environmental standards that were agreed upon by the industry. Cummins is on schedule to have a full product line available for customers by the deadline.

The 5.9-liter ISB engine is used in trucks, buses, RV's, fire trucks, step vans and many other medium duty applications. The ISB has earned a reputation as an industry leader in performance, fuel economy and durability.

"Customers will love this engine because they can maintain their maintenance intervals, have better performance and enjoy the same or better fuel economy," said Tom Kieffer, Executive Director of Marketing at Cummins. "We have extensively tested these engines in real life applications, and the results are terrific."

The new ISB was introduced in Europe more than a year ago and is proving to be a reliability and performance leader. To meet the EPA emissions standard, a cooled exhaust gas recirculation “EGR” redirects here. For other uses, see EGR (disambiguation).

"The next generation of the ISB is demonstrating the outstanding performance that has made it a customer favorite for years," said Christine Vujovich, Cummins Vice President of Environmental Policy and Product Strategy. "The EPA certification further demonstrates our commitment to apply the right technology for each of the markets we serve."
