The award recognizes suppliers for innovative and efficient cost reduction ideas that benefit PACCAR, their suppliers and their common customers. Tom Lundahl, Vice President of PACCAR Purchasing, presented the award recently at an all-employee meeting at Cummins Jamestown Engine Plant. PACCAR specifically recognized the accomplishments of the Cummins team for the smooth consolidation of assembly and test operations in the heavy-duty segment of Cummins business. "The consolidation was done in an incredibly short time span while maintaining very high quality standards," said Lundahl to a group of Cummins employees. CMP is a process used by PACCAR and PACCAR suppliers to jointly achieve cost reductions. Suppliers are challenged to work with PACCAR to find ways to reduce the total life cycle cost of their product, including design changes, adjustments to the assembly process at either the supplier or PACCAR's factories, or creative marketing programs that directly impact the end-customer. At the end of the each year, PACCAR reviews the accomplishments made by its supply base and determines which suppliers best deserve the CMP award.
