Inc. (NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange :CUM) today reported second-quarter 1996 net earnings of $44 million, or $1.10 per share, on sales of $1.3 billion. This compares with second-quarter 1995 net earnings of $69 million, or $1.69 per share, on sales of $1.4 billion. For the first half of 1996, Cummins reported net earnings of $93 million, or $2.31 per share, on sales of $2.6 billion. For the same period of 1995, the company's net earnings were $136 million, or $3.32 per share, on sales of $2.7 billion. Power generation sales of $310 million were 12 percent higher than the year-ago quarter due to international sales.
