:CUM) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer James A. Henderson James A. Henderson was Chairman of the Board from 1995 and Chief Executive Officer from 1994 of Cummins Inc. (manufacturer of diesel and natural gas engines), Columbus, Indiana, until his retirement in December 1999. Mr. Henderson has been a Director of AT&T Inc. since October 1999.  today announced a new organizational structure This article has no lead section.

The new organization will consist of four businesses: Automotive, Power Generation, Industrial and Filtration. Each business will include worldwide marketing, engineering and manufacturing capabilities.

"We have grown rapidly in recent years and diversified both our markets and our geographical base. This has made it imperative that we form integrated worldwide business organizations that will be more responsive to the needs of our customers in our various markets," said Henderson.

The four business units will report to President and Chief Operating Officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

The Automotive Business will be led by C. Roberto Cordaro. It will include heavy-duty and midrange truck, bus and light commercial vehicles as well as heavy-duty manufacturing and engineering.

The Power Generation Business, led by John K. Edwards, will focus on rapidly developing power generation markets worldwide and will encompass high-horsepower manufacturing and engineering.

The Industrial Business, led by F. Joseph Loughrey, will be responsible for the industrial, marine, government and rail markets worldwide. It will include midrange engineering and manufacturing as well as corporate research and development.

M. David Jones David Jones is a common name, particularly in Wales, and there have been several well-known individuals with this name. Variations include Dave Jones and Davy Jones.  will lead Cummins' Filtration Business as President of Fleetguard, Inc., headquartered in Nashville, Tenn.

Cummins, headquartered in Columbus, Ind., is a leading worldwide designer and manufacturer of diesel engines and related products. These engines provide power for its key markets: automotive, power generation, industrial and Fleetguard. Cummins reported record sales of $5.2 billion in 1995. -0-

C. Roberto Cordaro, 46, joined Cummins in 1978 after working for Chrysler and General Motors in Brazil. He has served in Cummins' Brazilian operations and North American North American

Prior to joining Cummins, Edwards served in the Peace Corps in Colombia. He holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in economics from Claremont Men's College and Vanderbilt Univ., respectively. Edwards is a native of Erie, Pa.

F. Joseph Loughrey, 46, joined Cummins in 1974 and has served in the areas of manufacturing, engineering and human resources The fancy word for "people." He was named group vice president - worldwide operations in 1990 and assumed added responsibilities as chief technical officer in 1995. M. David Jones, 49, joined Cummins in 1970 and has served in a number of positions at the company's Fleetguard filter subsidiary and in Cummins' parts and service operations. He was named vice president - aftermarket group in 1989. Jones holds a B.S. degree in engineering from Tennessee Technological Univ. and an M.B.A. from Harvard Univ. He is a native of Nashville, Tenn.
