Cummins Engine Makes Announcement.

COLUMBUS, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 20, 1999--

Cummins Engine Co. Inc. (NYSE:CUM) today announced that Roberto Cordaro, Cummins' Executive Vice President and Group President - Automotive, will resign from the Company effective October 1 to pursue other opportunities.

"My decision to leave Cummins has been a difficult one, and it was reached only after considerable deliberation," said Cordaro. "With the launch of the Signature 600 and other new heavy-duty engines complete, the timing was right for me to look at other opportunities. I have enjoyed working with the people of Cummins, with the distributor organization and with customers around the world. I wish them continued success."

Cordaro joined Cummins Brasil in 1978 as Director - Marketing. He moved to Cummins in Columbus, Indiana, ten years later, becoming Vice President - North American Marketing. In 1990, he was named Group Vice President - Marketing. In 1996, Cordaro was named Executive Vice President and Group President of Cummins' automotive business unit, the company's largest, with sales of $2.9 billion in 1998.
