Shallow means not very deep. drilling over the 8,000 foot long Third Portage Gold Trend. Resource calculations, completed in 1995, on the Third Portage deposit yielded 4.55 million tons (Transparent Optical Networking Services) A marketing term for providing dark fiber to a customer. The customer is responsible for generating the transmission signal and interpreting it at the other end. See dark fiber. averaging 0.136 oz. gold/ton (cut). The Goose Island deposit, located 2,500 feet to the south along the trend indicates a mineral inventory of 497,000 tons averaging 0.37 oz. gold/ton (cut). The 1996 spring drill program has focused on expanding the Third Portage and Goose Island resources (combined 805,000 oz. cut), as well as testing the area between the two zones. Results are listed in the attached table. GOOSE ISLAND DEPOSIT Drilling continues to test the extension of the Goose Island Deposit (see attached table). Significant gold values have been returned from drill holes testing the mineralization at a depth of 500 feet below surface (holes 109 and 111). The zone remains open to depth and a tier of deeper holes is currently being drilled. Alteration Modification; changing a thing without obliterating it. An alteration is a variation made in the language or terms of a legal document that affects the rights and obligations of the parties to it. and mineralization is consistent below the 500 foot level. Assays are pending on these holes. Shallow drill testing of the area north of Goose Island, towards the Third Portage deposit (holes 112, 113, 114, 116, 117, 118 and 122) returned no significant gold values. Drilling on the ice will continue to test the Goose Island zone and the area to the south as long as ice conditions permit. THIRD PORTAGE DEPOSIT Shallow drilling at the north end of the Third Portage deposit (holes 119, 120, 121 and 126) indicates near surface gold mineralization that could add to the existing mineral inventory. Preliminary studies indicate a potential cutoff grade of 2.0 gmt gold over 2.0 m (0.06 oz. gold ton/6.6 ft) in an open pit scenario. Drilling on land throughout the summer months will test the deeper levels of the Third Portage deposit (below 400 feet) and the North Portage area (1,500 feet north of Third Portage). A single shallow drillhole within North Portage intersected 0.41 oz. gold ton/3.9 feet. Surface grab samples Noun 1. grab sample - a single sample or measurement taken at a specific time or over as short a period as feasible sample - a small part of something intended as representative of the whole in the area have yielded up to 1.2 oz. gold ton. Additional results will be released as assays become available. GOOSE ISLAND ASSAYS
