(CBD-TSE) is pleased to announce the commencement of the 1996 drilling program and initial metallurgical met·al·lur·gy n. 1. The science that deals with procedures used in extracting metals from their ores, purifying and alloying metals, and creating useful objects from metals. 2. results from the Company's 60 percent owned and operated Meadowbank Gold Project, located 47 miles north of Baker Lake, N.W.T. The Project is a joint venture with Comaplex Minerals Corp (40 percent). The Meadowbank Project currently hosts two gold deposits; Third Portage Portage (1, 2 pôr`təj; 3 pôr`tĭj). 1 Town (1990 pop. 29,060), Porter co., NW Ind., a suburb of Gary, on Lake Michigan; inc. 1959. and Goose Island Goose Island may refer to: Places in Australia
1996 EXPLORATION BEGINS The 1996 exploration program will incorporate 33,000 feet of drilling at an estimated cost of $2.8 million. Presently, two diamond drill rigs are operating at the Goose Island high-grade gold deposit (497,110 tons grading 0.37 oz. gold/ton - cut or 0.78 oz. gold/ton uncut) with the goal of further expanding and delineating the deposit. As the program continues the drills will move north to test the 2500 foot area between the Third Portage and Goose Island deposits which the Company believes has excellent potential to add to the resource base of the project. The Company will also test outstanding targets located to the north of Third Portage deposit later in the season. PRELIMINARY GOLD RECOVERIES EXCEED 95 PERCENT Preliminary metallurgical test work has recently been completed by Rescan Engineering in conjunction with International Metallurgical and Environmental Inc. of Kelowna, B.C. Composite samples from Goose Island and Third Portage returned very high recoveries of 95.9 percent and 96.4 percent respectively, using gravity and whole ore leaching leaching, method of extraction in which a solvent is passed through a mixture to remove some desired substance from it. A simple example is the passage of boiling water through ground coffee to dissolve and carry out the chemicals necessary for producing the beverage. techniques. CUMBERLAND RESOURCES LTD. Kerry M.
