The golden girls of Cumbernauld were crowned queens of Scottish women's football after hitting Clyde for six.

They annihilated their opponents 6-1 in the Sports Connection Women's League Cup Final - an exact repeat of last year's scoreline.

Clyde never had the chance to get into Saturday's Broadwood showdown as Cumbernauld stamped their authority on the match from the start.

Shelley Valle rifled them ahead in the first minute, rattling the ball off the underside of the bar.

Skipper Pauline Hammill added a second before half-time and the game was effectively over by the 48th minute when Debbie McWhinnie (right) blasted in the first of her double.

Denise Brolly and Pam McDonald struck for Cumbernauld before McWhinnie netted the sixth.

Clyde's consolation came from Pauline Millard near the end.
