Culture team seeks crown; Let it be... Liverpool CAPITAL OF CULTURE BID.


THE ``Magnificent Seven'' reasons why Liverpool should be crowned European Capital of Culture will be handed over to the judges tomorrow.

And tomorrow they will face a 90-minute grilling by the key decision makers.

The team will highlight the bid's seven key factors: pounds 750m Grosvenor Henderson scheme.

The team includes Sir Bob, council leader Mike Storey, creative director Sue Woodward, council chief executive David Henshaw, education coordinator Carol Rogers, and chief executive of North West Arts Board, Michael Eakin.

Sir Bob said: ``Without doubt this is the most important 90 minutes in Liverpool's recent history. This will shape the future of the city for many generations to come.

If successful, the number of visitors to the city is predicted to rise by 1.2 million,generating an extra pounds 2bn worth of investment.

Council leader Mike Storey added: ``The city is already experiencing the beginning of a cultural renaissance. ``Capital of Culture would be the rocket fuel to put that rebirth re·birth

The panel of judges,led by Sir Jeremy Isaacs Sir Jeremy Isaacs (born 28 September 1932) is a British television producer and executive, winner of many BAFTA awards and international Emmy Awards. He was also General Director of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden (1987-96). , is interviewing the six shortlist ed cities during today and tomorrow.

Birmingham, Bristol and Cardiff were being interviewed today.

Liverpool will be the first to be interviewed tomorrow, followed by Newcastle and Oxford.

The winner will be announced on June 4 by Culture Secretary Tess a Jowell.
