Biotechnology Veteran Brings Expertise in Taking

Investigational Drugs to Market

MDS Proteomics, a leading proteomics-based drug discovery company, today announced the addition of Scott M. Rocklage, Ph.D., chairman and chief executive officer of Cubist Pharmaceuticals, Inc., to its board of directors. Dr. Rocklage brings more than 20 years of experience and knowledge in designing and implementing biotechnology research and development programs, which have resulted in the development of investigational drug products in human clinical trials, such as Cidecin for the treatment of serious and life-threatening bacterial infections and the approval of Omniscan and Teslascan -- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) contrast agents used in the diagnosis and detection of diseases of the bloodstream, heart and liver.

With the addition of Dr. Rocklage's expertise, MDS Proteomics' comprehensive board now includes representatives in each stage of the drug discovery lifecycle, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and the integration of technology platforms. He joins other members, including newly appointed Ley Smith, former chief operating officer of Upjohn, Inc. and Dr. Frank Lee, president and chief executive officer of engeneOS, Inc., and former chief technology officer of Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

Earlier in his career, he held the position of chairman, president and chief executive officer of Nycomed Interventional, Inc., a medical device company.
