Cubic VideoComm, CRM Films Sign Teaming Agreement For Interactive Intranet Training.

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 27, 1997--Cubic VideoComm Inc. and CRM Films L.P. of Carlsbad, Calif., have teamed up to provide interactive intranet-based training to business, industry and governmental agencies, the companies announced Monday.

Marty Winkler, president and chief executive officer of Cubic VideoComm, said CVideoNow's video streaming technology will be used to transmit CRM's designated curriculum to Beta testers that include major corporations with large training needs.

"This is an exciting new concept that will allow companies to provide training for employees faster, more conveniently and with far less expense than traditional training methods," Winkler said. "By combining Cubic's data compression technology with CRM's excellent catalog of courses, we can bring high-quality, sophisticated corporate and organizational training to the personal-computer desktop."

Peter J. Jordan, CRM Films president and CEO, said the concept is called "just in time" training: "In today's business environment, we all face time deadlines and resource issues, so it's important to provide the cost-effective training tools to employees where and when they need them.

CVideoNow is an outgrowth of technology for high-speed data compression and decompression that Cubic originally developed for its defense-related business. Once compressed, large video and audio files are stored on servers and transferred over local-area networks at higher speeds and with quality previously unattainable. Users see video immediately without waiting for a download.

Cubic introduced CVideoNow earlier this year at several leading trade shows.

Cubic Videocomm is a subsidiary of Cubic Corp.
