Cubic Teams up to Bid for U.S. Northern Command, NORAD Services Business.


SAN DIEGO -- Cubic (Amex:CUB) will provide major support as one of eight contractor teams to receive an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ ID/IQ Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity

) contract from the U.S. Air Force. The teams will be bidding for up to $800 million in task orders over five years to provide advisory and assistance services to the North American Aerospace Defense Command A bi-national command of the US and Canada that provides aerospace surveillance, warning and assessment of aerospace attack, and maintains the sovereignty of US and Canadian airspace. ) and U.S. Northern Command. These are the military commands that provide aerospace warning and control support, and oversee U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) homeland defense efforts. U.S. Northern Command coordinates defense support of civil authorities who provide consequence management during and after natural or manmade disasters.

Cubic will be a primary support source for Delta Solutions & Strategies LLC of Colorado Springs, Colo. Delta's 10-member team will bid to support homeland defense and C4ISR (Command, Control, Computers, Communications, Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance) activities for both USNORTHCOM USNORTHCOM United States Northern Command  and NORAD.

"These two commands -- USNORTHCOM and NORAD -- represent important new customers and business opportunities for Cubic," said Jim Balentine, senior vice president in charge of Cubic's Mission Support Business Unit.

Cubic's Threat Technologies Division, based in Kingstowne, Va., will perform the work. Part of the Mission Support Business Unit, the division currently supplies mission support to many military installations and DoD agencies, including the U.S. Joint Forces Command, U.S. Central Command, U.S. Pacific Command and Defense Threat Reduction Agency The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (or DTRA) is a combat support agency of the United States Department of Defense (DoD) whose primary function is to analyze potential threats to the United States, both homeland and abroad, and provide contingency plans for all such . Cubic's array of support includes planning, analysis, computer-based simulation training, computer modeling, operational staff augmentation and military-civilian coordination. Cubic also has extensive experience in live, virtual, constructive, mission rehearsal and Weapons of Mass Destruction Weapons that are capable of a high order of destruction and/or of being used in such a manner as to destroy large numbers of people.
