Cubic Defense Systems, a subsidiary of San Diego-based Cubic Corp. (AMEX AMEX

The "Lot IV" delivery is part of a contract issued by the U.S. Army Simulation, Training and Instrumentation Command (STRICOM STRICOM Simulation Training and Instrumentation Command

Lot IV includes systems for both the U.S. Army and Marine Corps. To date, the U.S. military has ordered more than 36,000 MILES 2000 systems.

The early shipment was utilized during Marine training exercises last month and last November at the Southern California Logistics Airport Southern California Logistics Airport (IATA: VCV, ICAO: KVCV), also known as Victorville Airport, is a public airport located in the city of Victorville in San Bernardino County, California, USA approximately 90 miles northeast of Los Angeles. , formerly George Air Force Base, in Victorville, Calif.

A second ahead-of-schedule shipment of 878 Small Arms Transmitters and 834 Manworn Detection systems delivered in mid-January was used in a new Project Metropolis exercise last month at the Southern California Logistics Airport (formerly George Air Force Base) in Victorville, Calif.

Helping to expedite delivery was the successful and timely completion of the Lot IV First Article Test. A dedicated Cubic team worked around the clock to test Lot IV equipment for reliability, in-house system performance, in-field performance and to ensure there were no interference problems.

MILES 2000 is expected to become fully operational at six Marine Corps locations by late summer, following Cubic's delivery of approximately 9,000 manworn systems; 1,000 antitank weapon systems; 300 combat vehicle systems; 100 independent target systems; ancillary equipment and technology such as controller guns, automatic small arms alignment fixtures; and the MILES 2000 After Action Review system.

In addition to the standard MILES 2000 components, the Marines also received equipment unique to their MOUT missions, including vehicle systems for their light armored vehicles, the LAV-25 and LAV-AT LAV-AT Light Armored Vehicle - Anti Tank (USMC) , and their armored amphibious vehicle, the AAV-P7.
