Cubic Defense segment forms new Mission Support Business Unit.Cubic Defense Applications, the defense segment of Cubic Corp. (AMEX AMEX See: American Stock Exchange :CUB), announced the consolidation of the majority of its government services business into a single organization, the Mission Support Business Unit. The consolidation is the latest in a series of alignments to sharpen the focus on core businesses and position the company for additional growth. The scope of the Mission Support Business Unit (MSBU MSBU Municipal Service Benefit Unit MSBU Microsoft Security Business Unit ) encompasses work on 81 contracts at 56 locations in 11 nations. The business unit delivers comprehensive support for training and readiness of U.S. and allied armed forces; live and constructive simulation support, including mission rehearsal exercises; and critical support for many of the deep transformation initiatives of the U.S. military, including assisting in the development and implementation of the Joint National Training Capability. The new unit also provides training, education and operational support to non-Department of Defense and non-government customers. Dinkel noted that Cubic has won several important competitions this year, retaining all of its existing services contracts and adding important new work. Recently awarded contracts include the Korea Battle Simulation Center, Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Systems Support, operation and maintenance of the Ripsaw Electronic Warfare and Aircraft Live Fire Range, the Tactical Commander's Development Course, the Defense Threat Reduction Agency The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (or DTRA) is a combat support agency of the United States Department of Defense (DoD) whose primary function is to analyze potential threats to the United States, both homeland and abroad, and provide contingency plans for all such Weapons of Mass Destruction Weapons that are capable of a high order of destruction and/or of being used in such a manner as to destroy large numbers of people. Heading the new Mission Support Business Unit (MSBU) will be Jim Balentine, Senior Vice President and General Manager. Glenn Marsh has been named Vice President and Deputy General Manager. Major MSBU organizational units include: Worldwide Technical Services Division, Training and Education Division, Operations Support Division, Information Operations, Threat Technologies and Systems Integration & Security. The Cubic Defense Applications group, one of Cubic's two major segments, provides realistic combat training systems for military forces as well as simulation, force modernization, educational services, operations and maintenance and manufacturing services.
