SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 20, 2001

Gary I. Washam has been named Director of Operations, Southeast Region for Cubic Defense Systems, a subsidiary of San Diego-based Cubic Corporation (AMEX AMEX

:CUB). He is based in the subsidiary's Orlando, Fla., office.

Washam has been with Cubic Defense Systems for four years as senior manager of advanced programs in San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay.  and deputy director of operations in the Orlando, Fla., office. His focus has been on U.S. Army and Joint Forces covering all of the subsidiary's Tactical Training and Tactical Electronic Products.

Prior to joining Cubic, Washam held senior product marketing, program management and strategic planning positions with Ball Aerospace and Megatek Corp. in San Diego. Since 1976, Washam has been responsible for the development of computer-based training products and real-time visualization systems for use by industry and military forces worldwide.
