SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 27, 2001

David Williams, a retired British Army brigadier, has been appointed director of U.K. Business Development for Cubic Defense Systems, a subsidiary of San Diego-based Cubic Corp. (AMEX AMEX

:CUB).

Williams has served as a London-based defense consultant to Cubic since 1994 and played a key role in the company's successful proposal for the large Area Weapons Effects Simulator (AWES) project being developed for the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence.

A native of the former British colony of Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, Williams attended the Royal Military Academy Royal Military Academy has been the name of two different institutions of the British Army.

 on operations and in the reconnaissance role in Northern Ireland and Germany. As a brigadier, he commanded the reconnaissance brigade in Germany. His staff appointments included serving in military operations in the U.K. Ministry of Defence and as the military assistant to the British Commander in Chief in Germany/Commander Northern Army Group and Chief of Staff 1st Armoured Division in Germany.
