Cubic Corp. Appoints New Defense Group CEO.

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 10, 2000

Gerald R. (Gerry) Dinkel, a defense industry executive with over 30 years of experience, has been named a corporate vice president of Cubic Corp. (AMEX AMEX

See: American Stock Exchange
:CUB) and chief executive officer of the corporation's defense group of companies.

He succeeds Walt Fairbanks, who is retiring after more than eight years with Cubic. Fairbanks will continue to serve on Cubic's board of directors.

Dinkel, 54, will oversee Cubic's five defense-related businesses: Cubic Defense Systems Inc.; Cubic Worldwide Technical Services Inc.; Cubic Applications Inc.; Cubic Communications Inc.; and newly acquired Oscmar International OSCMAR International Limited is a manufacturer of training and simulations systems for military forces around the world. It is based in Auckland, New Zealand and owned by an American company Cubic Corporation.  Ltd.

He comes to Cubic with a strong background in electronic systems technology and development, business development and general management. During a 28-year career with Westinghouse Electronic Systems in Baltimore, Md., now part of Northrop Grumman, he was instrumental in growth of the airborne radar and weapon systems businesses. He played key roles on a variety of programs, especially the F-16 radar and the Longbow longbow
