Cubic Automatic Revenue Collection Group enters into a basic cooperative agreement with the Transportation Systems Group of Siemens AG.


SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 21, 1996--Cubic Automatic Revenue Collection Group (CARCG), a subsidiary of Cubic Corp., has entered into a basic cooperative agreement with the Transportation Systems Group of Siemens AG Siemens AG

German electrical-equipment manufacturer. The first Siemens company, Siemens & Halske, was founded in Berlin in 1847 to build telegraph installations.

This basic agreement covers too main areas:

1) Automatic Fare Collection (AFC (1) (Application Foundation Classes) A class library from Microsoft that provides an application framework and graphics, graphical user interface (GUI) and multimedia routines for Java programmers. ) projects;

2) Bus Management and Information Systems integrated with AFC.

Under the basic agreement, CARCG will cooperate with Siemens for its international turnkey transportation projects. One of these projects is an AFC system in Southeast Asia Southeast Asia, region of Asia (1990 est. pop. 442,500,000), c.1,740,000 sq mi (4,506,600 sq km), bounded roughly by the Indian subcontinent on the west, China on the north, and the Pacific Ocean on the east.  -- where Siemens is the turnkey prime contractor. The firms are currently pursuing other important projects and expect further business to result on a continuing basis.

The Siemens Group is one of the largest international suppliers of rail systems technology.

CARCG will also support Siemens on AFC projects in Europe. Siemens and CARCG are currently pursuing several such opportunities.

The CARCG subsidiary, Scanpoint Technologies of Copenhagen, is involved in the basic agreement. Scanpoint has state-of-the-art products and systems most specifically for bus transit authorities.

Scanpoint has current contracts in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, France and Italy. A major system is being developed for Oslo utilizing state-of-the-art proximity smart ticket system technology that CARCG has pioneered in London and Washington.

CARCG is pleased to have been selected by Siemens for this basic agreement. The two companies ideally complement each other, and CARCG believes that favorable results will be generated by this agreement.
