Cub Foods Teams with the Salvation Army to Unveil World's Largest Red Kettle.


Cub Foods Cub Foods is a grocery store chain with eighty-four stores in Minnesota, Iowa, Northern and Central Illinois, Wisconsin, and the Miami Valley in Ohio. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based Supervalu. :
WHAT:   The World's Largest Red Kettle, a brand new addition to The
        Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign, will make its debut at
        Cub Foods in Stillwater, Minn., Nov. 19. The new, fully
        functional red kettle measures 8-feet, two-inches tall and was
        created by D.G. Welding of Eagan. It features a 10-foot ladder
        which consumers may climb to drop donations into the kettle.

        On Nov. 19 at the Stillwater Cub Foods only, each donation
        contributed to the giant kettle will be matched 10-to-1, up to
        a maximum of $100,000. For example, a donation of $1 will
        actually be worth $10! This is a one-time opportunity. Free
        refreshments, including hot cider, cookies and hot dogs will
        be served at the Stillwater event.

        Donations contributed to red kettles Nov. 19 at all other Twin
        Cities Cub Foods stores will be matched two-to-one, up to the
        $100,000 maximum.

WHY:    Since 1891, The Salvation Army has raised money to provide
        needy families with holiday dinners, clothing and toys via red
        kettles placed throughout communities worldwide. Last year,
        The Salvation Army in the United States helped more than 6
        million people at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
